Hello awesome Excel Experts!

A simple question: I created a calculated field named "After Discount". It places it in the PivotTable and displays the name as "Sum of After Discount".

How to you remove the word "SUM"? I have researched it and can't find the right answer.

Thank you in advance for your continued help and support.

Respectfully,

Elaine

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
You just have to cheat a little. :)

When you edit the custom name, make sure you leave a space at the beginning.

So you would replace...

Sum of After Discount

with

<space>After Discount

Note that you can edit the name directly from the cell, or by right-clicking the value field, and selecting Value Field Settings.

Hope this helps!

WHAT!!! It works!

This is exactly why I LOVE Mr. Excel! I googled it and watched it on YouTube, and there was no answer.

All of you are excellent experts in Excel!

My highest regards to all of you, and a great thank you for answering this basic question for Domenic!!!

BTW: I did a right-click on the PivotTable and the rename option is unavailable.

My respect to all of you!!!

That's great, I'm glad I could help. And thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate it!

Actually, the rename option should be available. First, make sure that you right-click your field. Then, when the context menu pops-up, select Value Field Settings...

Then, edit the custom name, making sure you leave a space at the beginning...

Then here's the result...

Got it!

I was looking for "RENAME" from the short-cut menu.

Again, I'm so glad we all have access to Mr. Excel. You represent them very well!

Thank you!

Elaine👏👏👏👏
