I have basic knowledge of excel so please bear with me as I'm sure my question is quite basic for the experts on here. I have a spreadsheet which details student names, their year group and the date they became home educated. I want to create a summary worksheet which breaks down the data from the master spreadsheet as follows - to show the number of new home educated students by month, year group and gender. Can anyone point me in the right direction to go about this - would pivot tables work?

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Yes, pivot tables would work. Can you give an example of the raw data that you are summarizing?
