Hi, I have Windows 7 and office 2007. Out of the blue, when trying to save a macro on personal workwook, Excel gives me the following message: personal workbook must stay open for recording a Marco on personal workbook. I've read previous thread, and tried the proposed solution
Click the Excel Options button.
In the categories pane, click Add-ins.
Disabled Items, and then click Go.
Select the disabled add-in and click Enable..

I enabled the Personal workbook but still the problem remain.
My personal workbook is in the right path:
C:\Users\ALBERTO\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
And is called PERSONAL.XLSB
Does this file have to have a some specific settings? Shall I try to delete it and re-crerate it?I've tried everything but I’m stumped. Thanks
Alberto

If personal.xlsb---properties---tick unhide
Personal.xlsb will open automatically

I did state
unhide the personal workbook in the properties.
and once the personal workbook is open then
in the personal file click the view tab and then in the Windows part click hide.

did you try this? (by the view tab I mean the view tab in the ribbon).
And when you close the personal workbook if it asks you do you want to save the changes to the personal workbook then click yes

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Did you ever get an answer to this - I have exactly the same problem. If you got it solve please let me know. Thanks. I ahve one macro I need to use several times a day and it would be nice if it would be available everytime I brought up Excel.
