PDF splitting

Hello,

I have a question regarding PDF-splitting.
There is a program out there, called AutoSplit, which splits a multi page PDF in single pages. It can even name the new PDF file based on a range one can define on the PDF itself.
However, this program is a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and higher.
Therefore you can only use it, if you have Adobe Acrobat.
I was wondering if there is a similiar program anyone knows of, that has the same functionality as AutoSplit, but is a freestanding programm?

Thank you so much,
Kai

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
There is one utility I love, called Fine Print Factory. It acts like a printer, and you can print anything you like to it and save it as a pdf file. If you open your pdf file with Acrobat Reader, you can send single pages to the Factory and save them as you want.

It is not free, but a trial version is available. Do a google to find it.

I know this in an older thread, but to this day (over 2 years later), I still have not found any other program with this special functionality.

Any new ideas since then?

Hello,

while PDFTK is nice, is lacks that special feature that I'm looking for.
AutoSplit Pro can split a multi-page PDF and NAME the split-off files automatically.
Here comes the neat part: You tell the program a range on the sheet itself, from where it will derive the name for the file. For example you create a virtual box. From 2.5" of the left side to 6" of the left side and 1.5" from the top to 2.5" from the top. Whatever text is in that virtual box will be used as the filename.

Example: Let's say you have a PDF with about 100 pages. In the top right corner of that PDF, you have different names on each page. With this program, you can split these 100 pages and let it name the new PDF files to whatever the name in the top right corner of each page is.

It is a very, very neat functionality. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a program with that functionality that runs without the need for Adope Acrobat.

Greetings,

Same issue as PDFTK. This programm will not automatically name the files. If you are working with PDFs that split or "burst" into hundreds of individual PDF files, you need something that names the files automatically using a good indicator, instead of just numbering the files (e.g. A1.pdf, A2.pdf, A3.pdf, etc....)
