Hi Excel-wizards!

This is my first post having been a distant follower for a while - so go easy on me ;)

I have a number of .xls workbooks which have lots of files inserted into them (Insert>Object>Create from file>Display as icon). These files are usually .pdfs but there’s often others such as .msg, .xls and .jpeg etc. I am moving from a Windows environment to a Mac environment and am having issues opening up those inserted files.

When I try to open them an Alert pops are saying “Cannot start the source application for this object.”.

Any ideas on how these could be opened or a way around this? This could be a major issue for me :(

Thanks in advance for any help!

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
are those files types associated with the Mac view of what happens i.e Excel 2003, Outlook and Paint environments
