Hello Aladin,

Having seen some of Monsieur Longre's handy work, I imagine absolutely nothing is wrong with it. But, it might be nice to see & work with some source code. Plus, I converted Ole's without thinking about it.

Well, there was some interesting reading in the "oddities" department.

There is probably nothing wrong with NUMTEXT, now we know about it. Must give it a try.

Ummmm, ok, I have read all the stuff about BAHTEXT. I looked at the VBA formula, but have no idea how to use that thing, so, can anyone suggest a way to change a number like $500 to Five Hundred Dollars. I tried to go under regional options to change the baht to dollars but got nowhere with it.

Incidentally, I think that the formula is probably in there because the Thai may not actually use different symbols for numbers as most languages do, i.e. they are always written out and therefore would need to be translated quickly for that language only. However, its ridiculous they didn't think that the rest of the world might also like to be able to type a number in and get a text result....MS, MS, MS, what will we do with you kids?

Nope, can't do that.

Just place the following in a module:

Omit:

Sub Tester()
Debug.Print numtotext(-12681264521.22, False)
Debug.Print numtotext(-12681264511.22, True)
Debug.Print numtotext(1.33, True)
End Sub

And use like:

=numtotext(-12681264521.22, True)

For currency, use False for no currency.

Actually, I found =spellnumber on the MS site at

it works pretty well, I will have change some of the default setting, but its pretty good. I also got num2text, but i couldn't figure out where the module was so I could use it in another workbook.
