Why are there 65,536 rows in Excel? Does this number have any significance? :)

Thank you Richard.

How about this...can you (or anyone reading this) please click the Search link at the upper right on this page, and enter in the Search for all terms field:

number and computers and byte

In the Search for author field, enter

phantom1975

Specify Search for all terms, click the search button, and see if any thread is found. When I did this, only one thread was found (7 if phantom1975 was not included in the Search for author field), with the topic "Why? Just curious".

If you click on that link (assuming it passes through the Search filter for you as it did for me per the above steps), it would be the same link I posted here in this thread.

In any case, I'd be interested to know from the site maintenance people why this is happening...why some people can access url's and other people cannot when clicking onto the same links using the same browser and operating system.

The only other thing I can think of is it was posted in the old Max Cells Lounge, before that was discontinued in favor of the current Lounge v.2.0 forum, but I don't see how that should matter, just thinking out loud.

Thanks a lot for the follow-ups Richard.

If anyone reading might know, I'd be interested to understand why this is happening. Strange.

As a general web site question, what would be the reason why different people who are using the same versions of browser and operating system, get different results when doing the same action on the same web site?

Thanks again.

Would it be possible that you have the page cached somewhere on your machine?

Just had a go, and got in fine. I don't think it's a platform / browser issue because I use Firefox.

Maybe it's because the post is actually in a locked forum (Max Cells Lounge) ???

I have no idea whether that would cause issues in trying to follow the link or not...

Yep, I agree -- joke's on me. Should have added ...and others have had varying results with IE
