Hi all,

I am trying to use the now function to show the current time in my excel online sheet, but it is returning a time 7 hours in the past.

I have checked my onedrive settings, outlook clock & PC clock and they are all set to the correct timezone so not sure how to fix this!

Any ideas?

Just to clarify, I was putting the formula into the cell =NOW() and setting the time format. It was showing the time as 3:24am when my time is 10:24am.
[....]
Once I added the formula then this remained what was shown when I selected the cell

And just to clarify your last statement.... When you type or edit any other cell, the time in the =NOW() cell does change. Right?

It is just always 7 hours behind current time at the time of any edit or recalculation, as well as when you modify the =NOW() cell. Right?

(Or is it 17 hours ahead? What date is associated with the =NOW() time?)

What version of Excel are you using?

If Office 365, did you see post #7 by jasonb75?

I do not trust Office 365, a subscription service. I wonder if certain "regional" settings are controlled by "the cloud", not your PC's settings.

I did try the same condition, i.e. Excel On Line, and indeed the function Now return GMT time; even thoug my profile says Timezone = CET (that is GMT +1)

Bye

Judging by the time stamp on post#3 the OP is on GMT

You're right! I missed that in the original posting. Klunk!

And you're right: Excel Online NOW() returns GMT: 19:12 when it is 12:12 PT for me.

Don't know if there is anything that can be done with it. I don't care about Excel Online. It is not for "serious" work, IMHO.
