I have a workbook with a userform that I have been using for some time. On my desktop, I held down the Ctrl key when opening the file (by mistake, I wanted to hold down the Shift key). Now when I open the workbook, the userform opens (which it is coded to do upon the workbook open) and shows the form, but Excel/the userform does not respond ("not responding")-- no errors, just displays "not responding" in white bar at the top of the userform -- does not respond/locks up. I have to go to the task manager and delete the excel application.
No code changes have been made to the program
I sent the file via email to my laptop and it opens and runs fine (same excel 2016, same windows 10); I sent the same file back to my desktop, and got the same "not responding" issue
I re installed Excel (maybe I should do it again?) yesterday and tried to open and it did not work.
I can open and run other Excel programs -- with and without VBA/userforms -- with no problem.
I did notice that when I opened the file that was sent via email to my desktop, I was asked only one of the two security questions. I was asked if I wanted to enable macros, but was not asked if I wanted to enable editing. I went to the "trust center" and checked all three boxes on the "open in protected view" (they were not previously checked) , but that did not help either -- same issue. The Userform shows (do not know if it loads data (in the initialization) because cannot click on tabs because that is when it stops "responding").
Did I mess up some setting in Excel? Other thoughts?? Do not believe it is in Safe mode.
