Dear All,
I have a data excel, I need a formula which will do a lookup in column A (sheet 2) to find the names which doesn’t exist in column A (sheet 1) if found it placed that name into column A (sheet 1).
For example:
Sheet 1 Sheet 2
<tbody>
Column A

Column B

A

1

Formula to place “B” automatically

</tbody>
Column A
Column B
A
1
B
2

<tbody>
</tbody>

I know lots of excel kings are here and I hope my query will resolve :).

Sorry,,,,, i think i am bothering you ............

Ok, now i will explain what i want .............

Sheet 2 Sheet 1
Column A Column A
A A
B B
C A

B

Now when i write "D" in column A into sheet 2, Column A sheet 1 formula calculate that Is "D" already in the Column A sheet 1if yes do nothing if not "D" should be add in the Column A sheet 1list.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
You're not bothering me.

As I said before why do you need to duplicate your data? Why can't you just use what's on Sheet2? Remember that you can see your workbook but I can't.

See if you can adapt this example (formula in B2 copied down):

Excel 2010
AB
1NamesUnique
2BillAndrew
3EdwardBill
4JohnCharles
5AndrewDavid
6IanEdward
7CharlesFred
8HarryGeorge
9GeorgeHarry
10DavidIan
11FredJohn
12Andrew
13Charles
14Edward
15Bill
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
B2{=IFERROR(INDEX($A$2:$A$15,MATCH(0,COUNTIF($A$2:$A$15,"<"&$A$2:$A$15)-SUM(COUNTIF($A$2:$A$15,"="&B$1:B1)),0)),"")}
Press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to enter array formulas.
