I'm attempting to insert a link in MS Outlook to a spreadsheet file in Excel. Would anybody know if this is possible? The file resides in the following directory: P:\Accounting\Budgets 2005\ALL Budgets info.xls.
I tried to surround the name with quotes and started the link with a double back-slash (i.e., "\\P:\Accounting.....") and it created the blue underlined hyperlink, but it returned and error message then called up the search window looking for an executable file. I'm using Outlook 2000 SP-3.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Tom

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Hi Anne,

I would like to send out e-mail(s) in MS Outlook and have the recipient(s)click on the link within the text body of the e-mail and this would launch an Excel spreadsheet file which is located in a public directory. I realize I could send the file as an attachment, but I have found this to be expensive in terms of time to send the e-mail, and the time required for the file to open at the recipients's end. I hope this provides you with enough information - if not, please let me know.

Thanks again,
Tom

Can you email a shortcut to it? Are everyone's drives mapped the same?

Same way you email any other file.
Create a shortcut to the location and put it on your desktop.
Attach the shortcut to the email.
