Any suggestions would be great? ive tried transpose and didnt work as the data set is too large.

Congratulations! You're the first person I have personally seen that wants more than the new limit of 16,384 columns. :eeek: Not sure how you woulda survived with the mere 256 columns we lived with up until 2007. :)

So no - ya cain't get there from here.

Greg,

Maybe a workaround solution would be to use the Transpose function?

Or also maybe a custom macro that transposes the first 16,000 columns using a helper column or worksheet and then transpose the remaining columns. From there it would be a simple matter of simple 'cut & paste' into the target cell.

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Greg,

My assumption on the comment "Im trying to move column cells b1 to b172555 to row A12555", Under the new 2010 excel I believe there is 1048576 rows, therefore to have only 1 column (column B) in this case move to ROWS is not unreasonable. I think you may have misunderstood that i wanted the reverse which i'm not in this case.

Burggogi,

many thanks for your assistance I will definetly have a crack at it now to see if this works.

OK - Annie, let's just do a comprehension check by shrinking the scale...

Do you want to take what's shown in B1:B5 and change it to what's shown in A7:E7?

Or vice-versa?

Sheet1

<TABLE style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; PADDING-LEFT: 2pt; PADDING-RIGHT: 2pt; FONT-FAMILY: Calibri,Arial; FONT-SIZE: 11pt" border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 30px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold"><COL style="WIDTH: 64px"><COL style="WIDTH: 64px"><COL style="WIDTH: 64px"><COL style="WIDTH: 64px"><COL style="WIDTH: 64px"></COLGROUP><TBODY><TR style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt; FONT-WEIGHT: bold"><TD> </TD><TD>A</TD><TD>B</TD><TD>C</TD><TD>D</TD><TD>E</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 18px"><TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt">1</TD><TD> </TD><TD>uno</TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 18px"><TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt">2</TD><TD> </TD><TD>dos</TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 18px"><TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt">3</TD><TD> </TD><TD>tres</TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 18px"><TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt">4</TD><TD> </TD><TD>cuatro</TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 18px"><TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt">5</TD><TD> </TD><TD>cinco</TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 18px"><TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt">6</TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 18px"><TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cacaca; FONT-SIZE: 8pt">7</TD><TD>uno</TD><TD>dos</TD><TD>tres</TD><TD>cuatro</TD><TD>cinco</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Because you cannot to the former for more than 16384 rows. However, yes, you could to the latter with no problem.

Greg, I think she may have explained herself incorrectly. She is trying to transpose the contents of a single row into a column. Take a look at her screenshots.

(a) Based on her screenshots -yes she misstated her objective.
(b) Per her screenshots she is not only transposing the header row, but also then relocating other blocks of cells, but it's not clear where the other numbers are coming from.

So at the moment, the waters are a bit muddied. Annie, I'm not knocking you - but we need some clarity.
