First I am very much a amateur and
I am attempting to create a multiple choice test in excel 2010. I have the formula and macros down. My problem is there are 218 questions with 3 choices per question and it seems that I can only use 52 shortcut key combinations. Is this correct or is their another way to assign shortcut keys. There may also be a better way of doing this and I would be open to any suggestions.

Thanks in advance

The answer to that is probable no. If there is a limit it is in the hundreds I'm sure. Every time you create a Macro it does not need a shortcut key assigned if your going to assign it to a button.
There is really no need to have hundreds of different macros to do this task.
Last week we had a user tell us he had 1,000 or more check boxes in his sheet. After we talked with him some we showed him how to do what he wanted with no need for any check boxes.
That's what we would like to do for you if your willing to make some changes to how your doing things.
And explain what your doing.

I asked the question: Does question # 2 start in cell A7 and you said "yes" in cells "A2"

I would think Question 1 should be in cell "A2" and the choices be in cell B2, C2, D2 and the correct answer be in cell E2
That way each question choices and answer would all be in the same Row "Record"
Rows are normally used as "Records" and Columns used as "Fields"
Fields for example are "Name" Address" "City"
In your case fields would be "Question" "Choices" and "Correct answer"

Sorry but yes question 2 is in A2. I question and answer in 1 row, so #1 is in row 1, question 2 row 2 and so on till question 218. I will try to post a copy of test later and see if that helps.
