max if formula

trying to get a formula to provide the latest date in column f based on the criteria in column b
however, im just getting "#value"

anyone know what im missing below

=MAX((DETAIL_ACTIVITIES!B1:B3000="IG1--Cantilever Base OLE")*(DETAIL_ACTIVITIES!F2:F3000))

Just tried a similar formula in a different spreadsheet where the source data is on the same tab
trying to get it to return the latest date where column i equals 1

{=MAX(IF(I302:I3000="1",K302:K3000))}

but im just getting 01/01/1900 again

i must be missing something very obvious but can see the wood for the trees!

any help appreciated

Maybe 1 not "1"
