Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
Hi,
if you are storing text more than 255 characters you should declare the field as a Memo data type.

In 2013 version, Memo was changed to long text and this is what I have selected. I should be getting more characters than 255 but unfortunately I am not I can not figure out why.

Through a form in a text box and also tried direct into the table. It will let me type it all in but then when i save and go back and check it has cut it off back to 255.

Someone posted this answer to a similar question:
Problem solved!!! For some reason data type listed "long text" but I noticed on property sheet the format had a "@". I deleted it and long text field accepted more than 255 characters. Now my only question is what does "@" do besides give me grief and how did it get into format??? I am loving learning the Access program. Wish I had discovered it years ago. And thanks for being here and helping us.

Try that. No idea why it would matter if it works.

interesting
I just tested that out
I made a long text field and put @ in the format
then I held down the x key for awhile
then I wrote a query that selected the text field and its length

the length was 572
then I copied the contents of the text field and pasted it into a text editor
the text editor showed that only 255 chars had been pasted

I removed the @
reran the query
copied and this time 572 characters were pasted

so apparently all the chars were there
they were just chopped off in the all displays
