long text fields

Good day,
I have a db that can merge with text from other files creating a large text field. Sometimes greater that the 250 or so characters an Access field can handle. I would like to have these text fields able to be updated so they can probably get pretty large. Any ideas how to handle this?

If you change the data type to memo, you will be able to store up to 65,535 characters.
