Hello All...
I cant remember how to lock a set of rows, so when I scroll up/down, a selected row stays stationary, while the rest of the rows scroll. Useful for labels and you want to scroll down to the bottom of the page,k yet retain the labels above so they stay in view.
I know it's easy to select the row to remain stationary, I just cant remember for the life of me how to do it?
Thanks
Charles

Is it possible to freeze columns A-F and Row 1 at the same time? I need row 1 to be frozen so the titles show; and I need columns A-F frozen to keep the labels visable.

Excel Facts

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
Try selecting a cell, Freezing the panes and seeing what happens.
Try selecting a whole row and a whole column at the same time and seeing what Freeze Panes does then.

You're not the first person to ask the equivalent of "what would happen if I did this"?
Excel is sitting in front of you.
Try things.
Play with the features.
The answers will come a lot faster than by posting question on the forum and waiting for a response.

Sorry for the rant but .... try stuff... experiment ... play with the program...

Back in the day, one of the most important things I learned is "you can't break the computer by pressing the keys".

Once you've played with stuff, tried different things, you might actually get what you want.
If you get close, the advice from the forum will be easier to understand.

Thanks for reading my rant and to answer your question, yes it is possible.

Hi and thanks for the reply and advice!

I have played around trying to figure it out but with no success. I know that I can freeze the top row and the some columns on the left simultaneously, but for some reason I cannot get it to either freeze the entire columns A-F or atleast freeze down 40 cells plus row A1. It's like it has a limit to how many cells down you can freeze and that limit is 16. For the project Im trying to create I would need:

A. Column A40 thru F40 frozen along with row A1.
or
B. All of column A thru F frozen along with row A1.

If that sounds like complete jibberish let me know and I can try to clarify it better :)

I am all for experimenting for myself first and I completely agree with you, but I only go to forums when Im completely stumped.

If I'm picturing correctly, you can click in cell G2, then go to Windows>Freeze Panes & that should do what you want.

If A1 is the top left cell and you select G2, freeze panes will give you as close as you can get with Excel.

As a spreadsheet, Excel protects the visual integrity of rows (and columns) fiercely.
One can't restrict the scrolling of rows on the left of the screen, while allowing row scrolling on the right. Excel will always make sure that cells that are lined-up horizonally are on the same row of the worksheet.
