Usually If I have a workbook in a folder ("CO.XLS") and this workbook has a link to another workbook in the same folder ("SUMMARY.XLS") when I copy the folder it will automatically look for the linked workbook one directory back.

I have tried this today and when I copy the folder it is still looking for the linked workbook in the original folder.

The links are in an INDEX MATCH formula.

Anyone have any ideas why this might be?

The below image shows the folder structure. The CO.XLS workbook links to the various SUMMARY.XLS workbooks.

Ok thats fine I see what you mean now. They were both in the January folder originally and thats what I thought you mean't.

The sructure you put together wont work unfortunately because its not just going to be a Colchester folder there will be 11 others and they will all need to link in to the summary workbooks.

I have just gone with a simple structure now:

January > CO.XLS
--------> 01 > SUMMARY.XLS
--------> 02 > SUMMARY.XLS

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
