It looks like this exact same issue came up with a previous poster back in 2019 and no solution was found. I'm hoping someone now has a solution.

I've got a spreadsheet that has a simple link to another cell in a different workbook (i.e. ='S:\folder name\[spreadsheet name]'Cell Reference). Both of these spreadsheet reside on a shared drive on our network. Both in the S drive but in different subfolders.

When opening the spreadsheet, the links will not update. As the previous poster stated:
the only way I can update the links is if
1) I manually go to the cell then enter again
or
2) go to "data" -- > "edit links" --> "update values"
or
3) I open both workbooks (workbook with links and the workbook that's the source)

Suggestions that were made in that post that I have also checked are
● In options > Advanced, When calculating this workbook, is Update links to other workbooks ticked? YES
● Does Ctrl+Alt+F9 work? I can see the formula cells in the spreadsheet flash like it is updating them but it does not update the values.

ANY ideas or work arounds for this?
