Hello:

I have a spreadsheet (send.xlsm) that has thousands of links to another spreadsheet (calc.xlsm). I used to be able to open send.xlsm and it would open quickly then ask me if I want to update the links. Then I did a windows update and it takes forever for the spreadsheet to open. I noticed this with other similar spreadsheets on other computers as well. It's like it is trying to update send.xlsm (from the closed sheet calc.xlsm) and by the way it takes often 10 minutes and then it still asks me if I want to update the links. any idea what is going on?

Excel Joke
Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
1) Are these files on a network drive at your workplace or are is this happening on your home PC?

2) Have you tried to open and save other MS Office applications (such as Word) to see if it's happening there as well?

only files with links have issues. I can save and it works as it should. Just bringing them up takes many minutes. I don't have word
