Hi guys,

I've been using excel for the past year in my current job and have built up a good knowledge of formulas and functions to an intermediate level. I'm really interested to learn more about excel and VBA in particular. I have a degree in business so VBA and coding in general is quite new to me but i feel like its something i would enjoy career wise.

I'm interested in your opinions on how best to learn VBA. I know there's alot of youtube videos ect but I'm wondering if i could get to a good level (eg. somebody who has a computer science degree) by this means alone? or would paying for lessons with a tutor be better?

Also another question (maybe not relevant to this thread) but i'm also wondering how useful a good knowledge of VBA will be in a career in finance? And also what kind of careers learning VBA could open up.

Anyway sorry to ramble, any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks
Alex

I agree with what you will hear a lot from experienced users l.. At the end of the day, practice and practice and more practice and participation in Forums like these is the best way to learn – I have learnt the most in answering and contributing to Threads here . I did find it occasionally, as an addition, useful to have a good selection of Playlist from the You Tube Videos. I Let them run in the background, or as an alternative to the Telly to fall asleep to!

Sometimes the Links change at You Tube. If that happens you could do a Google search with “You Tube” and these names

ExcelScreencasts
ExcelVBAHelp

LoeblComServices
Dinesh Kumar Takyar

Hi Guys, thanks for all your responses. Hiker and Alan, thanks very much for the lists! They will both be really useful and will keep me busy! I can't say how much i appreciate complete strangers giving me a tonne of free resources to work with on VBA! I've not been a member of this forum very long but i've found that that people on here on so willing to go out of there way to help people.

Cheers for the advice Alan - i'll try and be more active / participate more on here. Hopefully i can get to a level where I will actually be of some use!

Merry Christmas and thanks again!
