I'm trying to figure out the best layout for this table (using Win 10 Excel 2016), but I'm not sure after having tried a bunch of different things, so if anyone has any recommendations, I'd be much obliged. See a couple quick examples I created below. Example two seems my best bet as I can filter by activity (but I can't sort by student name or number).
Each student performs a 5-minute writing test and two 1-minutes speaking tests. The number of words are counted and recorded. I want to measure the progress as it changes over 10 weeks. I also want to display mins, maxes, averages, sums, cellular conditional formatting. It would also be nice to be able to sort students by number, first, or last name. I'd also like to be able to filter the Ws, the Ss, the SA1s, and the SB2s to analyze.
I'm also doing this for multiple classes, so it'd be nice to have something I can replicate and plug different names into.
Is my best bet a pivot table? Or do I need to just use one like example 2 and then filter and copy and paste individual tables w/links to other sheets? Or? If I know what form to go for, I can probably figure it out, but I'm not really sure where to begin. I tried a few pivot tables, but for some reason, this doesn't seem to lend itself very well to a pivot table...
