Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working for Macros

I'm using Excel 2010 with Windows 7. I'm new to macros. I've been recording macros and trying to assigning a keyboard shortcut in the Record Macro window but, they don't seem to stick. The macro keyboard shortcuts work with the first use but, don't work if I close Excel and try to use them again. The keyboard shortcut I tried to assign was crl + e. The macro works when I access it using the Macro window. Maybe there is something wrong with my settings?

The problem might be settings...

Generally Macos are turned off (disabled) when you open your workbook, You should have an option to turn it on. (something like Options... next to a warning message above the formula bar) which will allow you to enable Macros.

Though it is possible your security settings are set to disable without notification, in which case I am not aware of a way to enabling Macro, other then changing your settings and reloading the workbook). If this is the case, access your Trust Center (Office > Excel Options... >> Trust Center > Trust Center Settings...) and set it to Disable all macros with notification (second option, or really any other option then disable without notification). Close and re-open the file and it should give you the option to turn on Macro.

This is a macro-enabled worksheet in a trusted location. I'm still having the same problem with the keyboard shortcuts. The macro works when I go to the Macro window and select Run.

I realized what the problem was. I renamed the modules to reflect the names of the macros that they contained. This resulted in the macros appearing as "Personal.xlsb!module1.module1" in the Macro window in Excel and the keyboard shortcuts stopped working. When I renamed the modules to a different name than the macros they contained, for example: Module_1 contains the macro named Module1, the macro name appeared correctly in the Macro window and the keyboard shortcuts worked again.
