I want to make a price list for all the glass we supply. In column A I would list all our products. As we sell glass on a square metre rate is there a way I can select a product from say A5 and the input the height of the glass in b5 and the width in d5 and in that row set a sq metre rate and the the final price is given in say f5?

Example- size x size = price

im probably really over complicating this

How about
=B5*D5*1.5
where 1.5 is the sq metre rate

This should be pretty easy. It would look something like this:

in f5 use this =sum(b5*d5*rate)

rate=what ever your rate is for the product.

You should be able to pull and copy this down for all your products.

Thanks I will give it a go. I want to add about 40 items so assume I can set all different rates on different rows.

Yes you can, alternatively you can put the rate in F5 & then use
=B5*D5*F5
in G5

All going well but one last thing. how do I add 20% vat and then the total in the appropriate columns.

If the total is in G5 use
=(G5*0.2)+G5

it was working until I added-
=B3*C3*25=(E3*0.2)+E3
now it stays at 0 in e3

in F3
=(E3*0.2)+E3
