Is therea limit to how many threads I can be subscribed to?

that it's probably the db error causing the failure to automatically subscribe to threads.

Yep. I was experiencing the same things. I was then manually subscribing to the threads, but even then it still wasn't sending the email notifications.

Seems to be back to normal now.
