(I searched the forum but didn't find a solution that was meaningful.)

This is my current formula: =IFERROR(INDEX(Week_16!G:G,MATCH($A5,Week_16!B:B,0)),"DNP")

However, Week_16!B:B has duplicate names. I can get around this by filtering on Week_16!D:D but haven't been able to figure out the correct formula.

What would be the correct way to write the formula?

You all have been a huge help in the past and I appreciate your consideration.

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
How about
Excel Formula:
=filter(Week_16!G:G,$A5=Week_16!B:B,"DNP")

How about
Excel Formula:
=filter(Week_16!G:G,$A5=Week_16!B:B,"DNP")
=IFERROR(INDEX(Week_16!G:G,MATCH($A5,Week_16!B:B,0)),"DNP")

Week_16!G:G - is the data I want
$A5 is the player name I want to match
Week_16!B:B is the list of player names (This is the list with the duplicates)
The position of the players is in
Week_16!D:D (say "QB")

Does this better explain what I need?
Thank you again.

My ignorance makes me nervous. Sorry.

I only want to return the name of the duplicate player that is a QB.

In that case how about
Excel Formula:
=filter(Week_16!G:G,($A5=Week_16!B:B)*(Week_16!d:d="qb"),"DNP")
