Hi, I'm going around in circles trying to figure out how to do multiple IFS based on the contents of 2 cells.....
I'm not sure I've explained that very well, but hopefully this may help!

Sequence
1. If Col B is blank, do nothing, if not…
2. If Col C contains "alpha", return alpha into Column D
3. If Col C contains "beta", return beta into Column D
4. If Col C contains neither "alpha" nor "beta", return "not found" into Column D

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Place this formula in cell D2 and copy down:
Excel Formula:
=IF(B2="","",IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("alpha",C2)),"alpha",IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("beta",C2)),"beta","not found")))
