At job, Mac OSX and Address Book 4.0.6 with contact info including in many cases emails. I'd like to get it of there, into Excel to manipulate, and ultimately into a FileWrecker Pro database. How to export 1087 entries from Address Book including only selective data fields is the question, and I know that's "slightly" OT, but I do want to import into Excel, so I hope that vindicates me! :) If not, and you can point me to a good MacForum, I'll settle.

Thanks.

Norie - thanks for your time and thoughts, but if you read my first post, I kind-a mention that, although I do want to import into Excel at some point. With all the expertise on this board, I was hoping it might extend beyond Excel to MacAddressBook, and someone might point me in the right direction.

Thanks again. And..... still haven't seen your stuff. Sorry. :(

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Mike - yes indeed I did. I ran it and it oddly left out 98% of the emails. I closed it all down and reran it and it worked. Gracias.

Would it be possible, if I were to provide you with a record that contained (to my best ability) all relevent fields including such as address and phone, that you can modify your code to go beyond name and email?

Sure.
If you Exit Sub just before the Redim resultRRay statement, it stops after importing the data and text to Columning. After that, its just re-arrange and parse.
Does the data match the example you posted?

The export function included only fields with data or that are administrative in some way. If there are three phones and two emails, it will include them on separate lines, otherwise they won't be there. I'll follow this with a post showing a more complete records with as much as I think I might care about, and if you can work with it, I'm much obliged.

You’ll see two emails, three phones, address, web url, and categories as follows:
EMAIL – WORK and EMAIL – HOME
TEL – WORK and TEL – CELL and TEL – HOME
ADR with ( from the right) zip, state, city, street semicolon delimited
URL with the colon “slashed” since AddressBook uses it as a delimiter
CATEGORIES a comma delimited string which can stay intact

Thanks Mike. Stay tuned.

Perhaps you should be looking on a Mac site because I don't see how Excel could affect this export.

Other than using code similar to what mike posted.:)
