Hello all,

Is there a way to set up an ‘IF’ formula that when condition is not satisfied the result is ‘do nothing’? (it doesn't have to be IF but it does need to be an in-cell formula)

Normally you would have something like - =IF(A3=3,"Yes","No") - obviously this basically means whatever the value of A3, you have to do something i.e. respond with “Yes” or “No”.

Is there a way to get it to do nothing when the condition is not met?

e.g. =IF(A3=3,[Do Something],[Do Nothing])

Thanks,

Phil

Hello J. Ty.

Excellent! My testing showed it worked just as requested.

The only draw back I see is that the status change has to be manually entered into the cells (A1).

Cells (A1) in my workbook are updated by a link from another work sheet and the formula does not respond to any changes.

You certainly delivered though!

Thanks very much.

Phi.

J. Ty,

Thanks I'll test this tonight.

Regards,

Phil.

Thanks, Phil. I've been considering the IF statement similar to your suggestion, but not sure how to isolate the derived value from the cell that contains the realtime market value of the underlying stock which is constantly being updated with changes in the market. I'll keep hacking at this until I either find a solution of simply tell the worksheet user to type the opening price.
