Hi,

I want to create a hyperlink in cell "A1" to a text file.

My question is how can I embed the text file with the excel document. I don't want to worry about losing the text file. I want the documents all in a single location which is more convenient for me. I'm not concerned with the file size.

Thanks

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
It seems I can embed a file by choosing:

Insert-> object -> create from file

It looks like the icon has the equation "=EMBED("Packager Shell Object","")"

That's correct. It's then given the name 'Object 1'

If you then want to open the file from a link on a worksheet follow the instructions in the post.
You basically embed the object in one sheet and add the worksheet code in that link I posted to the same worksheet.

You then create a link in another worksheet to the sheet with the embedded file. The sheet is activated, the macro runs and opens the text file

OK thanks for the links.

Do you know if there is anyway to embed the object (in this case a text file) in a picture in the excel workbook?
