Hi,

I have an excel 2007 spreadsheet that has a data table in it, the table contains sales revenue, one of the column is called 'amount" and there are a few others named "2011,2012,2013 etc. The sheet also contains a macro which when run will tell the user that certain colomns/rows have no data in them. The table also has a conditional format which calculates the $$ amount in the amount column to divide itself into months. When i drag the table down to add another line of new data, a randon number appears in the columns where the $$ amounts would go, any idea how i can stop this from happening please.

Sorry for the long explanation, wanted to give us much info as possible.

Thanx in advance for any help :)

There's different way to handle formatting. I don't really know what's best - maybe it depends on the context. I though tables automatically expanded if you just add new data at the bottom (but I don't use tables a lot).

I look for the options button after a drag and select formatting only:

Right after dragging:

Then after selecting the dropdown I choose fill formatting only (sorry in the screenshot I picked the wrong option!):

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
In your original post you said, "The sheet also contains a macro which when run will tell the user that certain colomns/rows have no data in them."

Yet there is nothing in any code module. Do you have an Add-In associated with this sheet?

Umm? to be honest i dont know the answer to that and i wouldnt know where to look?

the maco was done by someone else and its only to tell the person when they open the sheet to complete certain columns, it also colours them blue so they know that is blank and must have data in it. The macro does not calcuate any of the cells, there is a conditional format that does that

i will try that and see what happens, that may solve it when data is added to the end but i'm still stuck with the problem of when i or someone; inserts in the middle (or somewhere other then the end) of the sheet.

Thanks for your input.....most appreciated :)
