How do we get a cross mark - i know through webdings or wingdings but what is the key :)

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Format the cell font as Wingdings, hold down ALT and type 0251 on the numeric keypad then press Enter.

You are welcome.

Here is a quick way to find the character codes. On an empty sheet format column A font as Wingdings. In A1 enter the formula

=CHAR(ROW())

then drag that formula down to row 255.

You will see that a tick appears in row 252.

try martlet font instead
a tick(checkmark) is lower case "a"
a cross (like x but better defined )is lowercase "r"
