how to count and sum cells by color in excel

Hi I have the formula below where I am trying to count how many cells have a colour and counting, where my range is to a and the cell colour is yellow which is p1, but the code doesn't work I get a #NAME ? please can u help?

=ASAPCOUNTBYCELLCOLOR(A:A,P1)
 
Hi Fluff good morning, what if I counted the writing in the cells which was in bold, would that be easy to do? is this a better way?

Excel Facts

Formulae cannot see formatting of any sort, so using bold font would not be any different to using colour.

ok no worrie, just an idea I thought off, I will scrap that then and go back to your idea :)
