Are you trying to make your profile picture an animated gif?

I have animated gif there and it worked on the old version and works if I edit the avatar now but it doesn't work on any post

this is bad idea with light font on light background (not all are eye lottery winners) - more contrast needed

That is not my experience. Might be worth clearing cache/cookies/history to see if that makes a difference? .. or try testing with a different browser to see if any change.

these big circles as users icon, it's very annoyed

Less annoying than animated gifs IMHO.

I find the Forum to be faster, cleaner, better organised and more efficient. The XL2BB is a sea change. The elimination of animations and other distractions is certainly welcome from my point of view.
