Let assume that I have a worksheet with 2 columns. And if the value in the first column is "A", I wish to add a Red * in the value of the second column.

I managed to add a * in the second column by using the conditional formating with custom format [Red]!*@.

But it turned the whole thing red!!!

I just want the * to be red! Is it even possible to accomplish such a task!?

I had tried to add [Black] after the *, but it throw me an error message!

And I can't find any Reset Operator on Google!

So it will be very nice if someone could teach me how to do it!

Much appreciated!!!

Hello,

You should make your life easier ... and add your Red * in a Third Column (width 2 ) ...

In addition this will prevent you from transforming your Values into Text ...

Hope this will help

can you use an IF statement in column B and then use conditional formatting to change the colour ?

Unfortunately, My BOSS won't allow that!!! :(:crash:

Sad News ...

Your BOSS is totally incompetent ...!!!

Take the time to explain that IF you are adding a character into a cell where a number is located ...

the number is transformed into TEXT ...

And then Good Luck to manipulate your ' ex - numbers ' for your calculations ...

Tell him also ... Excel is NOT a stupid WORD PROCESSOR ...!!!
