I have the following formula, but it is not working because column C from Database is also a formula.

=VLOOKUP(D4522,'T:\Version 10\[Backlog Template for v.10.0.xlsx]Database'!$C:$S,17,0)

For what its worth Column C in Database is formatted as number and needs to be retained that way.

Excel Facts

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
You should still be able to look up a value if there is a formula creating it. Can you check something for me? Tell me the two results of these two formulas:
=TYPE(D4522)
=TYPE('T:\Version 10\[Backlog Template for v.10.0.xlsx]Database'!$C2)

Change C2 to a cell that contains a value in column C in the database.

There may be an issue with the underlying data type of these values, causing the lookup function to fail.

here you go

=TYPE(D4522)
~~~~ 1
=TYPE('T:\Version 10\[Backlog Template for v.10.0.xlsx]Database'!$C2) ~~~ 2
I made it work, I know it is not he correct solution but this is what I did.
=VLOOKUP(value(D4522),'T:\Version 10\[Backlog Template for v.10.0.xlsx]Database'!$C:$S,17,0)
I also added value formula on column C
You can always use this too:
=VLOOKUP(D4522+0,'T:\Version 10\[Backlog Template for v.10.0.xlsx]Database'!$C:$S,17,0)
