I'm converting my old approach files over to ms access and I'm really finding access much less user friendly than lotus so if anyone can help me with a few problems I am having it would be appeaciated.

I'll post them 1 at a time

1) I am creating a field in the worksheet that is calculated (=1/35*[Hours]) i can add the sheet to the form and enter the formula in design mode but this only appears on the data sheet and not the table

2) I have created a report to split the info and the format is all corect and when i try to enter a field to add the figures up by way of a sumit will not work it just brings a 0 across now the fields it is adding contain decimalised numbers no greater the 1 but it will not regester them to add them up

i know this is a lil vauge if anyone can help please post i can send you a dummy copy of the file to look at

cheers

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
it's been a while since I looked at Approach but it is quite different from Access from what I recall.

Your calculations would normally be done in a query, form, Report or with VB.

"Hours" I assume would be a field in your table. You would create a query from your table for example and in the design you would type your formula in a blank field: =1/35*[Hours]

The query would also contain all or some of the fields from the table.

Send me your file, so I can understand better where you stand.
