I am trying to create a complex spreadsheet for cricket scores. The first problem I have is I need to know a high score after I have used the CONCATENATE formula (I have combined the scores with either nothing or a *). I have converted the matrix to number format and I understand that this formula woulnd't pick up the 54* for exxample but I dont understand why it wont find the values that are just numbers as I have tried adding the concatenated numbers together via formula which works. Is there a way this could work??
Also I want to no a score dependant on something else for example in one column would be a number ranging from 0-10, and the next to these numbers would be another figure.
I have used the max formula to find the higesht number from 0-10 and used a lookup to get the corresponding figure next to it but how to I get a formula to get the lowest figure if there are more than one in the category 0-10 ie 7 appears twice, once with 36 next to it and once with 23, how would I do a lookup that can also work out the lowest number IF the lookup up criteria appears twice??

Excel Facts

Difference between two dates
Secret function! Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")&" years"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")&" months"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")&" days"
you have to bear in mind that this is international forum and cricket is not understood worldwide let alone here in the UK, same as I know diddly about baseball

you will have to provide more examples of your data thus far and how you perceive it evolving
