GGY AXIS Import Error

I'm using an actuarial modeling program called AXIS (made by GGY), and I created a macro to import tables from worksheets in Excel to tables in Access, and then from Access into AXIS. When I run the first part of this process alone, I get the error:

Excel file [something.xls] is locked exclusively by another application

I've tried restarting my computer, restarting AXIS, redoing the macro, but I can't figure out why this message comes up. Most people probably haven't seen this program, but on the off chance someone has, any ideas?
