Hi all,

what formula would I use to calculate the hours worked from these hours, for example started at 07.23 and finished at 16.00pm

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 172pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=228 border=0 x:str><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 86pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 4169" span=2 width=114><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 14.25pt; mso-height-source: userset" height=19><TD class=xl24 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; WIDTH: 86pt; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; HEIGHT: 14.25pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f1f6f9" width=114 height=19>07.23am</TD><TD class=xl25 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext; WIDTH: 86pt; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #fcfaf2" width=114>16.00pm</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 14.25pt; mso-height-source: userset" height=19><TD class=xl24 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; HEIGHT: 14.25pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f1f6f9" height=19>07.28am</TD><TD class=xl25 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #fcfaf2">11.31am</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 14.25pt; mso-height-source: userset" height=19><TD class=xl24 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; HEIGHT: 14.25pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f1f6f9" height=19>07.38am</TD><TD class=xl25 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #fcfaf2">16.00pm</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 14.25pt; mso-height-source: userset" height=19><TD class=xl24 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; HEIGHT: 14.25pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f1f6f9" height=19>07.37am</TD><TD class=xl25 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #fcfaf2">11.30am</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 14.25pt; mso-height-source: userset" height=19><TD class=xl24 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; HEIGHT: 14.25pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f1f6f9" height=19>07.16am</TD><TD class=xl25 style="BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext; BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #fcfaf2">13.30pm</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

30:58 is correct

Add up the hours = 28

Add up the minutes = 178 = 2:58

28 + 2:58 = 30:58

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
30:58 is correct

Add up the hours = 28

Add up the minutes = 178 = 2:58

28 + 2:58 = 30:58

Confused......by adding the numbers up in general I get 29.78, even if we used 78 as minutes it would be 30.18...why add the hrs and minutes up seperately?

If you add Numbers

7.31+4.49+7.56+4.29+6.13=29.78

If you add Times

07:31+04:49+07:56+04:29+06:13=30:58
