Copy the example to a new sheet, except the Total row.
Make sure that it is in A1:c6.
Select A1:C6.
Activate Insert | Table.
Activate Table Tools | Total Row.

Now enter in say F1:

=LOOKUP(9.99999999999999E+307,Table1[Field-3])

The result that you would see in F1 should be: 0.3.

This is true with the example that you have given, however if several entries below where the 0.3 erty is located, because of the sort, then that formula returns the last entry in that array!

If you have rows below the last row that is showing that have been sort out, where the Total line is where the Total is 10.3. I need a formula in that Total Row that will display (in your example) 2, instead of: 10.3!!! In my Table I have many rows that I sort by Date for Reports. So, I need to be able to return the first and/or last row of a sorted table. For example, in your mini Table that you pasted in your last reply, in that table I need to write a formula in the Total Row that will return, for example in Field-2, Z, in first row & in Field-3, 2 in the last row where rows have been sorted out either before the first row & after the last row. I'm sorry that I'm not asking the question in a way that makes sence!!! Thanx for ALL your help!!! P.S.: Maybe what I'm wanting to do is not possible! Bit, I hope I'm wrong!!!

Total Row is something Excel provides. The user can activate it at will and choose a built-in evaluation. As far as I know Excel does not provide for substituting one's own evaluation in there, not even using VBA I venture.

You could do something like:
