I have a worksheet which is unprotected.

I format the entire column C as 8 point font.

I Ctrl-x cell C10 in this column and Ctrl-v it to the cell C11.

The format in cell C10 changes to 10 point.

This behaviour seems to me unusual. Can anyone give me an explanation?
 
I can not repeat your exact scenario.

If I format the entire column C to 8 point, then cut C10 to C11, C10 remains at the 8 point format.

If I only format C1:C100, then when I Cut and Paste C10 to C11, C10 goes back to default format.
Are you sure you formated the entire column?

Yes, quite sure. I can't repeat the scenario either. It just happens in the two worksheets in my suite where I require it to repeat the original format. I thought I had found the solution with Tools > Options > Edit > Extend data range formats and formulas, but that doesn't make it work either.
