Excel Facts

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
More information is needed. I understand that "63.56888" is the avrage of that column but from where comes the 19000?
What is the significance of the other two columns, and what formulae have you used?

All of that would assist in understanding your problem.

First 2 columns is info for horse
the 19000 is the purse for todays race
the above 10 lines are info on prior races
Im showing this one to let you see that forecast worked with this scenario

the next horse had 2 races with 18000 purse
todays race is again a 18000 ,but it won't calculate a calculated forecast speed figure

I hope you understand now

I'm not sure that I properly understand but I'll offer this thought.
I've created two separate formulae, the first is for the first horse, and the second for the other.
I'd recommend that you adjust your table so that the first formula can be dragged across the worksheet and so copy down.

Formula 1: =SUM(B1:B10)/COUNT(B1:B10)
Formula 2: =SUM(F1:F2)/COUNT(F1:F2)

SUM is adding the values while COUNT is determining the value to create the AVERAGE.

Rereading that, I'm wondering what I was thinking. (Actually I know - I dragged down the columns to create the specific ranges).

You only have to set the range in formula 1 at such a depth that it covers all instances when dragged across.
Sorry about that.
