Followed instructions but it wont work....

I need to convert a column of numbers to the opposite value....Positive to negative and visa versa. I have 480 numbers and would really like to not have to do it manually!!!

Everyone says to put a -1 in an empty cell and then copy it. Then highlight the numbers you want to convert and hit "Paste Special" with radio buttons "value" and "multiply" checked.

I have done that every way I can think of and the only thing I get, is the empty cells filled with a zero.

I am sure it is just a setting somewhere....but where??????

Any help would be greatly apprectiated!
