Hi all,
I have the following data and I'm trying to find x from the log trendline. I've plugged in the following formula and it isn't giving me the correct answer can anyone help please? the equation is y = 1989.8(ln) - 25898. Ive tested using actual data of y being 2,211 and it should give a value of 1,722,000 but it doesn't seem to...
can anyone help please? my formula is EXP((2211-1989.8)/-25989. Many thanks

I'm confused about your question.

First you are trying to find x, but your formula calculates y. What is x?
Second, your formula for y is y = 1989.8(ln) - 25898. I don't understand the syntax. Could you check that please.
y = 1989.8 * ln(-25898) or y = ln(1989.8) - 25898 or something else?

Hi,

Apologies, 2 things to add: I created a scatter plot of the data points above.
Secondly the chart equation when creating a log trend line on the scatter plot had a typo. Its is y = 1989.8(ln)(x) - 25898. See screenshot.
Price is x axis and area is on the y axis. I know that I wont get a value of 1,722,000 but i should get a number near that that sits on the trend line.

I found a different equation for x: x=e^(25989+y)/1989.8

Hope that is what you were looking for.
