can any one help me understand what contributes most to file size? Are loads of formulas on a given page going to use more space than the same page with a button that the user can press to run a macro to pop the formulas into the sheet, and then copy and paste as values once it finishes?
has anybody got any tried and true methods they use for large workbooks? My file has 160 odd tabs. of these 6 are used as reporting sheets which cut and dice the other sheets. of the "data" sheets, there wouldn't be more than a handful that extend past the first 50 rows. most of them, in fact, don't use the space below row 32. the rows down to 32 are exactly the same on each tab except for the numbers entered by the user. so, all the formulas, layouts, and formats are the same. i regularly run excel diet over the file but this doesn't achieve a great deal.
any suggestions would be greatly received.
