Hello everyone!

I use this forum extensively to get me through my Excel problems, but I haven't yet been able to find a solution for the following problem.

I have a bunch of text in column A1

FCL289AJDA
FCL3LASD
PEL383LLD

I am trying to extract the first part of the text and subsequent numbers only. I do not want the second part of the text to be outputted.

So for the above the output should be
FCL289
FCL3
PEL383

How can I do this in Excel? I tried using LEFT, RIGHT, FIND formulas, but I was never able to solve the issue if the length of the string differed.

Have you actually tested it ...???

Please do not be rude.
I would not have allowed myself to say that the formula fails in some cases if I did not test it before.
You doing that?
I use, in formulas ";" instead of "," (regional settings differently), and when replacing comma with a semicolon, the formula has erroneous results.
I hope you understand what I'm saying ...

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.

Feel free to post the results you are getting ...

Normal formula...

=LEFT(A1,LOOKUP(1,-MID(A1,ROW($1:$99),1),ROW($1:$99)))

Cant say as i saw the response as rude. Regardless of regional settings try it leaving the commas as commas in this part {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0}

How is it possible to say that a formula does not work if you do not test it ???

No. It's working if I change "," with ""

like this: {1\2\3\4\5\6\7\8\9\0}

It happens surprisingly often.

I suggest everyone calms down and moves on, please.
