Extract Mid counting from right

Hello,

I like to extract 8 characters from a string in cell X. Strings are different lenght but last 10 chars ale always 10. I need 8 chars before last 10.

example string and what I need to extract (in bold)

random_name_some_data-123456782017121299P

Please help

If the last 10 are to be ignored and the extracted length is always 8

=MID(A2, LEN(A2)-18, 8)

Have you tried :

=LEFT(RIGHT(A1,19),8)

or if prefer to use the MID :

=MID(A1,LEN(A1)-18,8)
