Extract date from text

Hi

i wish to extract the date (dd/mm/yyyy format) from a text string.

However when i used the "isnumber" function it came up with false, i think that means the date is formatted in text ?

so i have a cell which says:

bought some on 01/01/2010 bananas

i just want the date in that format with the forward slashes

the mid and text functions have solved the problems

You didn't notice, but I changed the type of return value to String. It will return you string representaion of date.
