Excel worksheets not responding to mouse clicks

I'm using Excel for Mac version 15.32. I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard & mouse (they came as a set). My worksheets are not responding to any mouse clicks (left or right). I can move around the worksheet using my keyboard. I can type in formulas and use other keyboard commands. I just cannot click the worksheet and get a response. I have been saving my files and closing them and then reopening them and it seems to work fine for a bit. But I need a better long-term solution. Thoughts?

I don't think it's the batteries. The mouse works fine in every other application. And it works fine in Excel when I close out the files and the program and then reopen them.
